Summary:

Head Coach Mike Kirkwood received a B.S. in Elementary Education from GenevaCollege in 1987. Mike was hired by St. Vitus School in 1987 and taught there for two years before taking a job at St.BrendanSchool in YoungstownOhio. He taught at St. Brendan for 11 years. Mike was hired in 1998 by the New CastleAreaSchool District and is currently a 6th Grade Math Teacher at GeorgeWashingtonIntermediateSchool. Coach Bub was hired as the Head Baseball Coach at NHS in 1987. Kirkwood led the Lancers to the school's first ever WPIAL Baseball Championship and a PIAA State Runner-Up in 1991. In 1998 Mike was hired as the Head Coach at his alma mater, New CastleHigh School. Coach Bub returned to NHS in 2004 and led the Lancers to another WPIAL Title as well as the first PIAA State Title in school history. Mike has produced over 60 collegiate baseball players, 6 of which played D1, and also three MLB draft picks, Jordan Tanner (2007), Benny Bechtol (2009), & Johnny Sansone (2012). Coach Kirkwood has been named "Coach of the Year" seven times during his coaching career. Mike is entering his 25th year as Head Coach this spring. He resides in NeshannockTownship with his wife, of twenty-four years, Nadine, sons Michael and Chris, and daughter Marissa.

Summary:
After graduating from Neshannock in 1998, I attended La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA where I played 4 years of college baseball and graduated with a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. After receiving the leadership award from La Roche College, I furthered my education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where I received my M.S. in Biological Sciences while working as a teaching assistant in Anatomy and Physiology.
I recently moved back to the New Castle area where I currently reside in West Middlesex and work as a science teacher at Cray Challenges.
I am also currently in the process of opening up my own veterinary clinic in West Middlesex with my wife, Nicole.

Summary:

John received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Clarion University in 1995. He was hired by the New Castle Area School District in 1996 and is entering his 20th year as a Writing/Language Teacher at George Washington Intermediate School. Coach Q. previously has served as an assistant coach under Mike Kirkwood for a total of nineteen years, including the NHS 2004 WPIAL & PIAA State Championship Team.  After the 2005 season, Coach Q. decided to leave coaching to partner a local indoor sport's facility (3H Sports), but returned to Kirkwood’s staff in 2008.
The Lancers have  won 7 Section , 3 WPIAL, and another PIAA State Championship since his return. He is currently the Director of Baseball Operations for 3H Sports and has recently completed his 9th Annual "Have A Day" Baseball Showcase. More than 100 student-athletes who have participated in the annual winter showcase have gone on to play college baseball, and three prospects have been drafted. Coach Q. resides in Neshannock Township with his wife Cybill and son John Anthony.
